Breaking Convention’s 11th conference, Worlds Collide, will feature themed panel discussions, art exhibitions and stalls.

Featuring some of the leading minds in psychedelia, Breaking Convention Worlds Collide will explore the creative tension points in the world of psychedelics.

Themed talks at the event aim to encourage exchanges of perspectives and instigate interesting conversations.

Speakers at the conference include The Beckley Foundation’s Amanda Fielding, founder of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelics Studies (MAPS) Rick Doblin, leading researcher, Robin Carhart-Harris, author of Entangled Life, Merlin Sheldrake, clinical director of the Centre for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London, David Erritzoe, and many more.

Themes of discussion include:

  • Safety and danger: Looking at how psychedelics can both help and hinder, and what’s being left out of the mainstream conversation.
  • Clinics and churches: Traversing the tensions between spiritual, clinical and personal use of psychedelics.
  • Money and meaning: Unboxing psychedelic capitalism, mainstreaming and different models of reciprocity and ethical funding.
  • Alternative futures: Identifying possible ways the psychedelic renaissance could evolve, the different values at play, and whether psychedelics can lead to cultural change.
  • A final unifying panel: Bringing together a multi-disciplinary group of speakers to explore what a synthesis looks like in the complex psychedelic ecosystem.

Awakn Life Science’s co-founder and head of psychedelic medicine, who will be speaking at the conference, stated: “The last few years in the psychedelic community landscape have been dramatic and transformational. We are now moving away from mere academia and research towards developing real and meaningful treatment programmes for patients within mainstream public health forums.

“For me, this has meant forming Awakn Life Sciences [Revolutionary Treatments for Addiction], a new biotech psychedelic company developing, researching and delivering psychedelic therapies through a growing network of high street clinics in the UK and Europe.

“I look forward to discussing how these rapid changes in the wake of the Psychedelic Renaissance are providing long-awaited improved access to psychedelic therapies for patients – and exploring the challenges and progress that lies ahead.”

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to browse through art exhibitions and stalls with psychedelic books, clothes and Breaking Convention merchandise.

The event will also host an afterparty in Shoreditch featuring a lineup of DJs and space for networking.

Breaking Convention: Worlds Collide will take place on Saturday, 2 July, at The Genesis Cinema 93 – 95 Mile End Road, London, E1 4UI, and the afterparty will take place at JuJu’s Bar & Stage, The Truman Brewery Square, Brick Lane.
