Wonderland: Miami to host world’s largest psychedelic conference

Wonderland in Miami

Sports luminaries including Mike Tyson will be among the world-leading speakers headlining the largest psychedelic medicine business conference next month.

From 8-9 November, Miami, Florida will play host to Wonderland, the largest ever business gathering in the psychedelic medicine sector.

The event will welcome companies and speakers from across the globe, among them those at the cutting edge of a revolution in the treatment of mental health, addiction and pain challenges.

The Wonderland conference comes as almost 1,000 new psychedelic clinics have opened in the US, prompting an explosion of investor interest across Florida.

For more than a billion patients worldwide with conditions including mental health afflictions, traumatic brain injury, opioid addiction, strokes, dementia and menopause, psychedelic medicine offers new hope, with the FDA awarding breakthrough therapy status to groups working with MDMA and Psilocybin.

World-leading experts

Joined by scientists from Johns Hopkins, UCSF, Imperial College London, and leading financiers, innovators and CEOs, the conference will showcase the massive scientific advances, explosive growth and inspiring patient stories which have made this the fastest growing sector in medicine.

Headline speakers include former boxer Mike Tyson who now acts as an advisor to Wesana Health, basketball star Lamar Odom and USA Rugby Women’s Premier League (WPL) player, Anna Symonds, alongside Mindcure CEO Kelsey Ramsden and Lynn Marie Morski, president of the Psychedelic Medicine Association, the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Keynote speakers include; Robin Carhart-Harris and Ralph Metzner, Distinguished Professor of Neurology & Psychiatry, Director Psychedelics Division, Neuroscape, UCSF, Professor David Nutt, chief research officer, and Dr Ben Sessa, chief medical officer from Awakn Life Sciences, Dr  Matthew W Johnson, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Johns Hopkins and Rick Doblin, Ph.D. in conversation with Patrick Moher.

”I believe if I’d been introduced to the benefit of psychedelics for therapeutic use early in my professional career, I may not have encountered as much anxiety or depression,” Tyson commented.

“I’m excited to be speaking among the most talented researchers, scientists and minds such as Dr. Robin Carhart-Harris, Prof. David Nutt, Dr. Ben Sessa, Dr Matthew W. Johnson, Ph.D, Rick Doblin, Ph.D. at Wonderland: Miami.

“Events like Wonderland: Miami are immensely important in helping improve mental health by showing people how life-altering experiences with psychedelic medicines can be.”

Heightened investor focus

Given a number of factors including the growth potential of the psychedelic medicine market, the NASDAQ listing of a number of psychedelic medicine companies as well as heightened investor focus received from Peter Thiel and many key Miami-based investors, Wonderland has attracted a top cohort of financiers including one of the leading franchises in the Psychedelics sector, H.C. Wainwright & Co., LLC., as its Official Banking Sponsor.

Among groundbreaking psychedelic medicine companies supporting Wonderland: Miami are Numinus, Mindset Pharma, Wesana Health, The Conscious Fund, Nushama, Braxia Scientific, Awakn Life Sciences, Levitee Labs, Negev Capital, Ambria Capital, MINDCURE, KGK Science, Psychedelic Water, Zuber Lawler, IMIO Life Ltd, Cybin, MNP LLP, Iter Investments, Ibogacine, Tryp Therapeutics, Psychedelic Invest, Entheo Digital, and Maya Health.

Musician Jon Hopkins, who has created the album ‘Music for Psychedelic Therapy’, stated: “Psychedelic therapies are moving into legality across the world, and yet it feels like no one is talking about the music that accompanies them.

“In indigenous psychedelic ceremonies the music is as important as the medicine, and has been for thousands of years. Music is how you navigate the space.”

The first event is on 21 May, 2022 at Lighthouse Immersive Artspace in Los Angeles, and will feature four hours of live music, visuals and 3D sound by the line-up of artists in the emerging genre of “Psychedelic Meditation”.

Learn how to take action on drug policy with The Psychedelic Society

Featuring campaigners and experts, the Drug Policy Symposium will explore the present and future of UK drug policy.

Learn how to take action on outdated drug laws with The Psychedelic Society

The Psychedelic Society’s event Action for change: Drug Policy Symposium will be providing an opportunity for audiences to learn from experts in the UK.

A special edition, action-focused event, the Drug Policy Symposium is bringing together people on the frontline of drug policy campaigning.

Featuring speakers and organisations including Drug Science, Health Poverty Action, Release, Conservative Drug Policy Reform Group (CDPRG) and Labour Policy Reform Group, the event will explore action-oriented topics such as:

  • How do we push for the rescheduling of psychedelics for medical and therapeutic use?
  • What needs to change in drug policy for us to feel safer in UK nightclubs?
  • How will we start seeing medical cannabis prescribed on the NHS when it’s already legal?
  • How do police tactics need to change in order to stop drug-related crime?
  • How can we tackle outdated drug policy laws?

The Psychedelic Society‘s event host, Mags Houston, commented: “We really want to give individuals the tools and the knowledge to go out there and make a difference themselves.

“With this event, we wanted to make something that was really grassroots level – something that we as the people on the ground can actually get involved with and feel like we are getting to the mission of advocating for evidence-based drug policy.

“So – what can we do to actually help and, and what can we encourage, what change can we make happen? That is the premise of the event.

“With that in mind, not only will we have a full day of talks ending with a panel discussion, but we’ll also have a range of different stalls, where we’ll have different organisations represented within drug policy in the UK.

“There will be resources, flyers, there might be T-shirts and books for sale. We really want to create a space where people feel they can network with drug policy representatives and thought leaders – where people can meet like-minded individuals, both on a social level and personal level.

“It’s about bringing people together in person so that we can start the conversation.”

Speakers at the event include Neil Woods of LEAP UK, Rayyan Zafar, honorary research assistant at Drug Science, Tara Austin, behavioural and brand strategist at CDPRG, Nick Earles and Elliott Rolfe of Mackrell Solicitors, Niamh Eastwood, executive director of Release, Nicole Borgers of Volteface, Jade Proudman founder of Savage Cabbage (Global Ambassador for Charlotte’s Web) and Leonie Schneider co-founder of PsyPAN.

The full-day event will take place in East London cultural hub, Bethnal Green on Sunday, 24 April 2022 from 1:30 PM to 10:45 PM.
